K2/K3/K4 // Norbert Wangen’s kitchen cube design revolutionizes the concept of the compact kitchen. A single stand-alone mono-block contains all necessary elements for both cooking and entertaining. It is a graceful piece of contemporary furniture that unfolds to reveal a high spec state-of-the art cooking system ideal for limited spaces. Designed in three sizes, the kitchens bring dining, from creation to completion, back into one social space. It is an elegant and logical response to the demand for open plan environments with many functions, serving as “living” spaces. All three kitchens conform to the same design parameters, but in differing sizes, allowing for specification of the equipment that can be housed.

When closed, all the kitchens form a complete block but when the stainless steel top is slid to one side it reveals sophisticated cooking and preparation surfaces with a washing area concealed below. The stainless steel top creates a stylish linear table that can function as a bar, or a serving or dining space. The cube contains individually welded sinks with hand-made solid stainless steel fittings and hob. The rectangular structure encloses an oven (or ovens), refrigerator, dishwasher, cupboard, and drawer space. The most compact unit is the K4, at only 159cm long and 70cm, it manages to house a two-position hob, a sink in solid stainless steel, and space for a refrigerator, dishwasher, and under-sink storage drawer in addition to the extended stainless steel table space.
